A very special thank you to Sara and everyone at freight house for allowing us to come in and feature your delicious cuisine. We can’t wait to come back to Paducah in July and enjoy your beautiful industrial atmosphere and one-of-a-kind food again. Our second entrĂ©e was a beautiful silver carp served with caramelized onion vichyssoise, brown butter roasted potatoes, and french onion croutons. We’ve never had silver carp, and 10/10 would eat it again. The caramelized onion vichyssoise added a beautiful layer of flavor. The brown butter roasted potatoes were so toasty, crispy and delicious.
a unique western kentucky dining experience
Born and bred in western Kentucky, Bradley grew up learning her way around the kitchen with her family, inspired by Kentucky traditions from the Ohio River Valley to the Appalachian foothills. After studying at Johnson & Wales College of Culinary Arts in North Carolina, her professional culinary career led her to America's biggest cities. She honed her skills in prestigious kitchens of Michelin Star restaurants Dovetail (New York City) and Blackbird (Chicago).

When chef Sara returned to her hometown of Paducah in 2015 to open her own restaurant, she set her sights on a historic freight depot that once served as an agricultural distribution hub. Now known as freight house, the dining menu is not only inspired by Kentucky agriculture but designed around it. Nearly all of the ingredients are sourced from farmers and producers within a day's drive of Paducah which yields fresh, seasonal dining experiences. Freight house is led by chef/proprietor sara bradley, runner-up on season 16 and season 20 all-stars of bravo’s competitive cooking show top chef.
Paducah Freight House
Freight house served it with white beans and pepper jelly. The egg was yummy and the white beans were a nice base, but the real star was that pepper jelly! If they ever put that stuff in a jar, get yourself some. Second, our favorite, delicious buffalo cauliflower with shaved celery and pickled onions. Neither of us are cauliflower fan girls, but we’d eat this over and over again.
As part of our incredible ten day, six state, five B+B road trip extraordinaire, we stopped in Paducah, Kentucky to indulge in some deliciousness. We found that and so much more at freight house. Kentucky Tourism proclaimed 2018 the "Year of Kentucky Food" and tapped chef Sara to be one of the state's chef ambassadors. First, an avocado salad with crab, arugula, pickled onion, and a green goddess style dressing. It was so perfect ripe and delicious. And that green popped out when it hit the table.

Bradley's love of local extends to the freight house bar which showcases her love of Kentucky's native spirit. The freight house bar menu, which has been featured by Garden & Gun and USA Today, features more than 500 bourbons, whiskeys and ryes complemented by a rotation of inventive craft cocktails, beer and wine. "Life in Paducah is easy. It slows down a little bit around here but still has everything a big city offers. I love using the local agriculture and regional dishes to create something unique."
